It's time again to get us some culture again, and that's why we decided that we went to the Temple Area of Beomeosa. To get there we had to take the subway by train (Line No.01), and had to ride it almost to the end of the line...
(Beomeosa Station)
The ride was about 15 minutes from our subway station located near our hotel. From there we went topside and started to walk around looking for the bus stop. We had to take the bus up to the temple area...
(Lilia heading top~side...)
After getting above ground and walking towards the bus stop, we finally arrived at it from subway exit no.5. It only took us 5 minutes to get to the bus stop where we had to take and wait for bus line No.90...
(Our bus arriving at the bus stop...)
We had to wait a few minutes for our bus before it got ready for his next run towards the temple. A large group of elderly people are waiting in line to also go there. Most people in Korea like to take a long hike in the mountains. Beomeosa Temple is a temple that is located in the mountains of Beomeosa.
After waiting for a couple of minutes, it was time to board the bus and head for the Temple area of Beomeosa. The bus got really crowded inside because of that many people wanted to go up there by bus...
(Lilia in the bus to Beomeosa Temple)
After the bus started driving, the bus driver went with top speed off to the temple. The bus went up hill with many curves to the top. It took about 5-10 minutes to get at the bottom of the temple area...
(Kurisu at the Bus stop of Beomeosa temple)
After arriving we had to walk uphill towards the temple. It was a road with a path to follow full of stairs. But the way to the temple was an interesting and beautiful one... Beomeosa temple is a temple of Korean Buddism. This temple is one of the country's most known urban temples. The temple was constructed in the year 678 during the reign of the Shilla King Munmu.
The mountain where Beomeosa is found is said to have huge rock at the summit where there is a golden well which never, ever dries up. The water of this well is believed to have very special magical properties as one day a golden fish came from heaven and has lived there ever since.
And off we go, first we had to walk pass the Ticket office box of Beomeosa Temple. People with cars that want to get there needs to pay for a parking ticket to get up there. But visiting the temple is for free...
Here we are going upwards and meeting our first stairs to the temple. The place seems very well maintained from here on. It was a little bit chilly here, so it was a good thing that we are more warmly clothed today...
Next to the ticket office, there was a map of the Busan and the area of Beomeosa Temple. From here the view was already amazing to see...
After checking out the maps to see where we wanted to go, it was off to the temple. On the way we took some pictures of the surrounding area. It was all rocky but covered with lotsa trees and memorials...
Walking upwards for about 10-15 minutes we finally came at the first gate of the temple area to pass. It was also good maintained and it looks very beautiful. To finally get to the temple, we had to pass some more gets before getting there...
(Lilia at the first Gate...)
Then it was off to the second gate. While walking we were indeed amazed by the surrounding area. It looks so peaceful, green and beautiful...
(Walking towards the 2nd Gate...)
(And finally the 3rd and last Gate to pass...)
We finally got at the temples of Beomeosa. There were many temples where the monks did their prayers and chanting. There you aren't to take pictures of them unless you get their permission...
We walk and explored the area, and it seems that some parts of the area were closed off because of renovation of the buildings. But most of the buildings and area's were still accessible for the public eye...
The weather was cloudy but a some what sunny, so we were pretty lucky with the weather here on our days out...
After checking out the area and making some photo's of it, we went up to the forest next to the temple area. From there we started to walk upwards again by following a road consisting out of large rocks...
It was really beautiful to see the forest here in Beomeosa, large trees surrounded by rocks and water. We followed this rocky path upwards and met with some energic elderly people asking us where we are from. They were amazed that we were from the Netherlands because we looked Asian. Then we explained how we got our looks because our parents came from asian to the Netherlands. Then they laughed because they now understand how we've gotten our asian looks (^__^) Then we said our goodbyes to them and we walk continued our walk uphill to check out what's up the road...
While walking and climbing the path up hill we saw a few people who came from above heading down towards the temple. Most of these people were elderly people, and it was amazing to see them full of energy climbing this slope...
During our climb we had an amazing view and we could really feel the nature, the calmness and the peacefulness of the forest. We took a couple of breaks during our walk...
(Lilia: Hmmm... which stone to step one...?)
Finally we came at the last couple of stairs of the path that we've followed. It led us to another temple...
At this place we also had a great view. From this part of the area we could take pictures of the surrounding mountains and valley. We even found a very sleepy doggy there, who woke up a lil' bit and then fell down and went back too sleep...
After admiring the view, we then went back down the path we've taken to get up here. It was harder to get down because of the view down, because the view of the depth was different when we went uphill...
We carefully went back down, and went back to the main temple area of Beomeosa. There we checked out some more of the surrounding area and then headed back to the bus stop...
Goodbye Beomeosa Temple Area, thank you for giving us a great time with your amazing views of nature and culture... Then we got on the bus heading back to the bus stop where we've gotten on. After getting of the bus we headed back tot the subway station to go to an E-Mart store. There we did some shopping and took a break at the foodcourt by heaving us a icey drink and snack at Baskin' Robbins.
(Lilia having a Green Tea Blast @ BR)
Then it was back to the Lotte Department store near our hotel to shop some more at YP Books and the Gundam Store. During our shopping run we got hungry, and then we went downstairs at the BG1 floor for it's foodcourt. There we had our dinner at our favourite restaurant BBQ Chicken where we ordered our pork cutlets again...
It was yummy to the MAX, and after a heavy dinner we went back to our hotel by walking trough the shopping center of the subway. Then we went topside halfway the shopping center to check out what kinda buildings there are next to the docks...
We even came across a Kyobo building, which was it's office building in Busan. It's shape was pretty funny because ik looked like a vintage robot with a face...
We walked around some more and eventually we ended up at the 7Eleven next to our hotel to get us some ice coffee and snacks. THen we walked back to our hotel, and with that we came to an end of our day... We will see you with our next blog...A very Goodnight to you all...
